Signatures

Hi Everyone,

Considering we don't want to stifle members' needs to express themselves, I want to put the following suggestion forward so we won't have to do the overly drastic thing of not allowing signatures anymore.

I only can turn signatures off or on. I can't do anything to limit their size in my panel box, or do something about a maximum gif pace that will prevent people with epilepsy to get seizures from watching it.

Recently, I've been seeing a lot of sigs that are either very big pictures (gif or not), or overly long quotes. This makes the forum impossible to view on smartphones and smaller screens (like netbooks) without having to scroll horizontally as well. Plus it enhances the time it takes to load a forum page, which can be a problem with mobile or other slower connections.

So I would hope we can reach an understanding here that when it comes down to quotes, you only post one quote (not ten lines of whatever, but keep it within reason). After all, you can always change them whenever you feel like it.

And when it comes down to gifs, to not post gifs that have a high pace or are overly "flashy". Right now, nobody has one of those gifs, so that's the good news.

As to gif and pic size, we'd like to suggest a max size of 500 x 500 pixels. I know this is still relatively large, especially for smartphones, so if you can find something smaller, it would be much appreciated.

Now I didn't pick this size at random. I checked the size of most forum  signature pictures, and this size means most picture/gif sigs can stay, but a couple of you will have to adjust (resize or take another) their picture.

So please check if your signature picture complies with those demands, if not please change it or adjust its size. If you're unsure if your picture is of the right size, download it and hover with your mouse above the thumbnail of your picture in the folder that you downloaded it into, it'll state you the size of it.

If we can do this together, it means we can keep the signatures. If not, we'll have to press "no" on the panel that says allow signatures. I doubt that's what we all want.

Yep, I think only Tale and nuttybunny had one that was too big, but I haven't seen all pictures. Just those who posted recently.
